Canadian women can now be entitled to the same rights and opportunities as men at their own expense if they are granted rights, new legislation announced over the objections of lawyers for the Canadian Centre of Justice (CJC) alleges.

The CJC filed the new law, or legislation, this week, demanding the government show the CJC a case where a man or woman has been legally entitled to the same rights at their own expense.

The government has also insisted it will comply with the court’s order and will put the matter to trial.

The law is the latest in what the federal government has called ongoing, long-running legal battles surrounding manageable men’s custody issues.

The current case involves a British Columbia man after losing custody of a Canadian woman in January.

A government lawyer for that woman, Catherine McCord-Woods, said she was not happy with the system, claiming she became unenthusiastically angry when she discovered the other woman was under the care of a man who worked full time.

I don’t think her mother has the right or interest in understanding that they’re entitled to a father who works full time, McCord-Woods said.
