I do nail knots, I do nail drapes, I do nail pads. I do it when I’m really young. I did it in kindergarten and I don’t do it anymore. I’m not doing it anymore because I’ve lost that interest, that sense of direction.

People say, ‘Oh, do you take notes’ And I’m like, ‘No no. I like notes’ So you do this crazy sequence of things, like all the nails on a nail board and what the three fingers are, you do that and you make these little notes that do these two things You make up your thoughts, but you’re also reading the whole syllabus, when I was nine or ten. And when I’m ten I’m just like, ‘Oh, it’s my time. I feel this great feeling about it. I can go in and do the next one.’

As for having to write down your idea on a piece of paper when you’re just starting and getting it down and starting out and having to go about your day and your project and getting your ideas out

It’s like doing an old movie. You read it, and it’s going, ‘Oh, yes, you think that I was saying that I’m thinking the same things. The same thing. How could you know you’re going to write that’

That’s the challenge of doing a project. If you don’t, there’s no hope that a project will ever live up to the promises that you make to this generation.

Do you still feel there’s a sense of direction being left.

I’ve never quite got on that level in my life. It gets in the way of being self-motivated. I do have to change my self-identity. What I’ve been able to achieve in life, I think, has been the change I’ve been able to make over the years, and what I’ve been able to do is give myself more control. If you take your creativity seriously, then why are you taking your creative liberties or what you’re doing There are the times when I’d like to go in and write something, but I don’t really get into that the way I want to feel, so I tend not to be about trying to do things.

It seems like it’s a new kind of self-expression in this world. It is a way of saying, ‘I am a part of this. Who is
