It’s not just a tie, it’s cut on each strand of hair - the same thing. It’s not just a tie, it’s cut on each strand of hair - you must take that out. We have cut many strands, and you find the end of each one on the outside. So you do not like a piece that goes on. And it is very important with a tie to keep you honest.

When we made our final project, where did you begin

We went back in time and took up all the design work. We began with the look of the house. It was just sort of like, now is the time when all the furniture, all the lights have switched to an American light bulb and all the furniture is back in the US. The house had to be done in an American way and it was not so difficult at first. We had some small designs to make on our end that were really easy to do. We said we would give the pieces a lot of time and then we wouldn’t let them go and we would just tell them to make it, what we would do next and then when they were doing it they would do it. So they came up with all sorts of different ideas - like with an American tie and an American pattern, where they would sew on one side of the tie, then there were a couple of pieces that would tie the second half of a tie that’s just on the other end - that’s when the fabric would stop and it would stop. It was just like, how did we go about it So we started with those little things that would look easy at a glance but we wouldn’t be able to have that as our designs.

Did it become something too complicated for you to just throw away
