So while those free access options may not have all the potential they should give to Tesla, they’re both attractive to the solar industry as it expands its footprint. A lot of the advantages that we see here could be very appealing, said Michael J. Dolan, president of Tesla Model S Project Management, in an interview with Ars Technica.
Tesla has a long history of expanding its business and is currently exploring the possibilities of new partnerships. Dolan’s company is focused on developing a car battery that can power a car for a fraction of the cost of conventional carseven an affordable one. It recently unveiled the S Model 1 and will be based at the University of South Florida. In February, it announced two new battery packs on an automotive platform similar to Tesla’s now-deceased electric Model 3, the Model S or the Model X.
Dolan’s plan is aimed at making his vision of how a vehicle can meet and exceed Tesla’s car demand even more plausible. The question we’re going to answer is exactly how do those potential competitors, if any, work
In addition to getting Tesla’s car technology and resources to build battery packs, Dolan is hoping the company will also start to build cars and service vehicles for the electric car market. We’re very interested in doing that, to put Tesla in the right position to do things like that, he noted during a news conference at the University of California, Irvine earlier this year.
The big question the company will answer is when, where, and how. How are things going to work to get cars like this launched said Dolan. In January, Dolan asked Tesla and its suppliers what kinds of cars they plan to build and how much they’ll build. Tesla’s answers are available here.
On the topic of battery pack production It may be that there will be a market opportunity to get people going with these technologies, but it’s very early, Dolan said.
In the meantime, Tesla is pushing ahead with its self-driving car plans. Last month, it announced that its self-driving car system, which is driving with one hand and driving a car with the other
