In all seriousness, it’s very, very easy to do, and you gotta think about it. But there can be a lot of different ways if you don’t realize the limitations of what you can do. In the book, he writes about a guitar player whose life is made up of a million different songs. But when he tries to understand the world, and then has to do this, it can take away more than he already has.

Is there ever a moment in that book when you feel like you have to find a way to play a new song

No. It kind of falls into reverse. As you get older, you get to learn songs that can become quite popular. That’s one of the main reasons why many artists do very well when they’re doing great things. But with a lot of different styles of guitar playing, where the original guitar players, most of the time, play a particular song for quite a while. They all feel really different on the guitar, and that’s cool. We’re looking into how all those different styles of guitar play can work together for songs as complicated as the ones in B-side.

Do you see yourself as ever trying to define yourself by the style that goes hand in hand with the instrument

I feel like I’m always trying to define myself. If my style of playing is a bit of a banger, then maybe I should play more bangers. It’s my thing to express how I want to play in songs. Sometimes I feel like I’m trying to write something that’s different from the original guitar players (and, yeah, that sometimes is fun). I don’t like to talk about what’s been on my mind when I’m playing this song at some point. It’s kinda like trying to tell a story to someone else to play with. I don’t like saying Well, this is going to be a bit of music that makes you feel like you’re doing the ‘dunk.’

A few years before you were writing B-side, was it kind of a long process to get things done
