I’m always in the studio. The fastest thing to do is to learn chords, and then sing it. But I’m kind of bored now. And I’ve never done the chord progression on live. It’s kind of a thing that I could just do when I was doing it on the stage, and I’d sing it in the studio. But I’m always in on that. So I’m really learning what I can do with my music. So the lesson from this song will probably be very different for me since I’ve never done that on the road. I don’t know what else to do. It’s kind of like being a child. Like learning something on piano. Maybe the piano could give you some inspiration by playing chords and making the song. Or maybe I’m having a hard time learning lyrics from it.

How was the transition to recording for the recording of the song Get It to You in 1996

I started with that. It was kind of my first attempt at playing my chords live. And then I realized why I didn’t have that in my head. I didn’t really understand how songs really sound. I was making songs on my own. I was doing a lot of different things. I didn’t have anyone to listen to on my own. So I spent a good chunk of the day on the piano and had a little practice session with them over on a little acoustic guitar. The song ended up recording pretty quickly. I think one of my guitar solos was the opening line of Get It To You. And then that was the song that I wrote with Steve. And when he released that, it was on my album. I was like, Hey, that’s really cool He was so excited for this song. The song ended up being kind of the best I’d ever done with a live gig. It wasn’t like I was writing them in a band as big as Got It To You, it was more like doing the record live. So I did that live with some other people, and then after that that, I’d go into live recording, and I’d write my live songs live. Then I would go into recording, and they were on there too.

But the thing is, I like to be on the phone with anybody you want. The more people you have (with no problem), the better your music becomes. You don’t have to be in any jam bands, you can just hang out with anyone you want.
