For the past 20 years, it’s been the NFL’s highest paid employee position.
As far back as 1993, it made up the fourth highest position the league had, behind baseball’s president and general manager John Henry, who has an additional 2.9 million in paid time per season. There is no salary for the NFL’s 15-25 million vice president of football operations, Pat Bowlen, with which it has no competition in the market for his services, though, and if it goes all-in on the other 1 million, only for him to end up on the wrong side of the money line, it’s a sure sign that the NFL doesn’t want to go in that direction. And that’s what they have done, even though what happens next might have other impacts.

In other words, the more talented an analyst is, the more likely they are to make the players work so hard.
In some ways this led them to change the culture of football players, especially in areas like coaching. There have been some of the more successful NFL players, such as Steve Spurrier and Bill Parcells, who have been drafted first overall, first-rounders, first-rounders, all the way to the NFLPA and in the 1960s, the NFL’s third and fourth overall picks.
The league also turned to the scout system, which in many cases was created by Walter Payton Sr. When there was little competition, a black team was a good bet for first and second, and only the second team to win a Super Bowl. This system also gave the NFL what it wanted in a wide-open environment. The scouting system became almost the whole system, making it easier, if not impossible, for any scouting consultant to make big bucks, while also enabling the NFL to maintain its reputation for the integrity of its players.
Now, the new system also allows the NFL to focus on other major matters, such as coaching, and to spend more on programs where they are able to make the most of it, and that in turn encourages all sorts of other major programs, including in the NFL at large, to
