A couple who have had problems accessing online services have received their second apology in one month from the online portal for a series of online comments they made online.

Last October, they were charged with offences relating to the promotion of false statements online.

The men were charged with false statements of fact made to police on an anonymous message board for a group of about 10 people.

The men had been online for just over two weeks, were using the free online chat app Talk Talk to organise and ‘talk about anything relating to the events surrounding the events of last year’.

However they had been receiving emails, messages and phone calls from strangers to report their online behavior.

A spokesman for Talk Talk said ‘We are aware of the charge. We can identify the individual as someone who has been charged, and are being advised of potential further action to be taken by a professional.’

Speaking to the BBC’s Sunday Politics on Monday afternoon, Professor Richard Beardsley said ‘I understand why this is important. People get hurt and when you think about the damage they have caused it’s a very high rate of post-harassment.
