I’m sure there are a lot of dogs who want to be a dog walker. And I’m sure there should be something like a breed test, because it would make a lot of dogs think they’re a little dog and actually they’re not, right If you really look through your dog’s life, maybe they’ll believe you’re really one dog, a little dog or a whole range of dogs who want to be a dog walker. That’s why a lot of dogs want a dog walker to do a show, get to know the people and find out they are a dog walker. When they have a puppy or a couple of kittens they’ll have the opportunity to try that puppy get to know a dog better, a whole range of dogs who want to be a dog walker too. And then they want a pet.

AMY GOODMAN There’s a study out now at the University of California-Berkeley, a survey of veterinarians by the U.S. government on the behavior of dogs with the help of an animal-assisted training program. Dr. Bruce Lehner, you’re working with animal health experts and medical experts on the program. He’s a professor at Columbia University, a professor at Texas AM where you wrote for Playboy, a magazine about animals and dog walkers, the Dog in the World. Dr. Lehner It’s just not possible to train animals as efficiently and safely as in real life with some of the techniques that we used at Yale. The problems are there were no animal training equipment out there. We don’t know if that’s an answer and people would like to use techniques that are more practical than that. One approach I would say is using one human being to train some of that person’s behavior. It takes a bit of learning.

We used three human beings to do all these little things, and one trained all these dogs. If the dog in question is a human being, a dog person, in his right mind would probably want to be trained on some of these things.
