NARRATOR You know, women have gotten to play far worse roles than ever before. Donald Trump has called them belligerents. When asked about you for saying that, he said, Well women have gotten to play far more important roles. So many of them. Why not say this in a broader context It’s reallyit’s, The American dream. You can’t have a woman controlling a corporation in the name of the American dream.

NARRATOR Donald Trump made that claim in his debate with Hillary Clinton last night, and he then said that women have been playing the role of pawns, of the American worker.

NARRATOR Well, you know, he said that women were so important to him at birth. He said he had a mother and a father. He said that all the women in the room thought he was a sexist. And he said that he wasn’t the hero for saying it. And this has become increasingly important in America today because of the media attention that it engenders.

NARRATOR In a series of interviews with MSNBC and The Washington Post, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee gave us an account of his business acumen and of his commitment to his party. But he has also given us something he said is a personal judgment that will hurt millions of other women. In this one, we just have to go back two generations and see what he said in the context of the American electorate.
