Yes. Dog walking self employed is the work of a dog trainer or dog owner who works out of their own home or farm in the state within the bounds of any state park, county park, city hall, school, or other public space and whose training and responsibilities are in the field of care and protection. In addition to the duties specified above, the following work is required

The dog owner must have sufficient knowledge of the dog’s needs to know what dog is walking and what it can do.

Dog owners must be able to determine the dog’s ability to walk correctly by asking dog owners about its training and needs.

A dog owner must know that its dog can walk safely without being bitten to give the owner a good record in keeping it with the dog. If the dog doesn’t have the ability to walk on its own, the dog may be seen or heard in person.

The owner must treat all dogs in the community, even those that are not dog owned, kindly, humanely, and with as little fuss as possible. Dog owners are not expected to be overly friendly with people that are not dogs.

Dog owners must report all animal calls and behaviors of all dogs within a 30-day waiting period to the county parks and county wildlife agency upon their dogs’ separation from other registered, unregistered, and abandoned dogs within that 30-day period. Dogs must be used in the home (or park), as provided pursuant to local ordinance, ordinances, and regulations.

Dogs and other animals in the home (including, but not limited to, deer, foxes, and dogs with special needs) must not be kept in unattended or unlit places, and must be housed on the private property until a license is obtained for them.
How Does the Dog Walk Checklist Work
The DNR’s dog walk is designed to keep a dog safe and away from people. By taking a short walk and assessing the surroundings around the dog, you will determine if your dog really is walking safely, and which location should be the dog’s safe place to be.
The DNR will assess the dog’s condition and the dog’s behavior, both inside and out, to determine how dangerous the dog is and whether its owners are in need of protection.
