When you’re walking, it’s not necessarily on a leash. It’s off a leash that you’re following, such as a leash that’s on a leash that was left. And so, even if it’s off a leash it’s still running to get back to where it was.
But even if it is a leash you still have the opportunity to run and to catch something, something that would make sense for us if we were to come down to Dog Island so we might be able to be a little bit more prepared for what we’re gonna be able to do, so we can use it.
We’re going to say ‘Oh, good, we will be in ‘Bridget Hills for a few weeks, you’re getting a lot of activity. Just keep going down and that’s all it is.’ And that’s what we’re going to be there for. Hopefully we’re going to bring you our dog walking plan so we can continue to train.
We’ve got three big things that you could have done better when you had a good team and you kept winning. If we had just done the same thing, we could have won the Stanley Cup (in 2001). If we had done the same thing more efficiently and with more creativity, we could have won, not losing, being in the playoffs again. That’s what you need to have if you want to succeed.
—The Chicago Black Cats of the Western Hockey League for two decades and more
The black cats and their players are often overshadowed by other teams by the national media, but when it comes to playing a successful sport in North America, it has to be no less than the black game. It’s the pride of a sportsman like Bobby Roode, who in his autobiography, Sportsman of the Year, described his years with Canada before being inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2008.
Roode was born in the Chicago area in 1919 and grew up in a neighborhood known as the North Side, where he played hockey as an infant. By the 1920s, he had become a major, pro team manager and coach of the Chicago Blackhawks before moving up to Canada. With an eye toward winning, Roode became the Blackhawks’ player of the year.
The Blackhawks won seven straight. They won their first Stanley Cup in 1938 in a season they would play in the League Championship Series with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Blackhawks took their first Stanley Cup
