I would say there’s a certain cultural norm in which the dance is a different sort of dance, like a yoga or a gymnastics. And in many ways that seems to be true. There’s not any specific kind of ballet, really, in which the dancers are the dancers. It seems very, very, very traditional and to people outside of ballet, it seems like they’re just getting into the dance they’re trying their best, and it’s just really hard to do.

Do ballet have a way for us to express ourselves creatively if we use what we’ve got And you’re talking about a kind of creative energy and an energy that is all in the heart of you and that’s really why ballet is so powerful in different ways, both inside and outside of ballet. We love our ballet for what it is, but our dancing is more of an expression of an emotion. We have a real creative relationship with the world and with our own personal sense of self as well as our own sense of purpose, and I think that’s one of the most powerful aspects of working within a ballet. It’s more of an expression of my self than the world that I see through one lens.

You’ve talked a lot lately about the potential of your new album, Piercer, as well as that of a lot of your other projects. You recently announced your participation in a few projects with EMI, and have also done other stuff under the name Gone with the Wind. What has that experience been like for you as a dancer

Honestly, the first thing I was really looking forward to was Piercer that’s an extremely unique collection of music, music that is incredibly complex, that has the quality of many things a lot of very dense and very complex music. It’s a very large piece and it’ll be something that will be released in 2017. So from here on out, I feel like we’ll be doing all of that music together as an entire collaboration.

I saw that as the thing that resonated with you the fact that this is just about working a little bit more with the world that I imagine people would find it interesting I think my approach in Piercer was to try to take it all to a higher level. But, I think that has to do with the idea of working a little bit more with the world. I’m really looking forward to that
