The idea is that dancers at a pole dance will perform as long as both knees are up, but can also perform in a wheelchair.
Where are you from
My parents are from KwaZulu-Natal and I grew up in the Netherlands where my parents were Dutch citizens or both. Their family moved here when I was 10 years old and I am the only child of immigrants to live within a few kilometres of the Pole Curling Centre in KwaZulu-Natal.
When did you grow up
This is where we lived until 2002. In the first two weeks of my highschool self-dance, I was given a chair because I felt like this position was wrong. There were several other coaches (that I respect very much), then a new coach came. I always liked to do these things because my friends knew I could do them.
What were your first routines
I did my very first dance at about the age of 19 from the age of six. I used to perform this during school dance classes in public places around the city. The teacher said if you want to perform it at a pole dance, it must be at a public pole dance school near you. I could only do that if I understood the rules. My teachers would push me, and I would stand up and perform, but their feet would touch the ground and then the coach wouldn’t let them enter the room. There were some coaches that would hold this pole dance in the corner, and I loved it. Sometimes I could do other things as well. During my high school days, there was no pole dancing so much as doing a little karate or jogging. I used to do the same thing with my back and then I would jump right out to the middle distance and perform.
What was the most important thing for you before you started performing at the same pole dance school
After I started learning all of these positions (dance positions, pole dance) and even performing my routine at a pole dance school (dance positions with a chair), the teacher was very supportive which made us so happy. But it didn’t come easy because I needed so many training as a dancer. As an adult, I didn’t have the training. During my training, I would have to keep doing these same dances, but since I couldn’t get a chair and couldn’t use it at the same time, I continued doing these dances with my hand out, to get
