The following are things that get used frequently.

  1. The most common pole dancing technique is the basic step forward. This starts with a long straight line to the left of the center point. This gives the dancer time to turn his hips and straighten his shoulders. It can also be started at an elbow position. It could be done with a straight line, but with a shorter arc and you should be fine.

  2. To maintain balance, use the opposite hand in the same position. The middle pole needs to be slightly stronger. This will give you more distance to go, but also increases time to perform the action again.

  3. When the pole is being held back or bent back, do not stand up. Straighten your hips and straighten your torso. This will give you a greater chance of moving down the aisle.

  4. Begin doing the motions over 5 minutes so it is easier to get started.

If you find yourself having to learn the same position over and over, here are some more tips and tricks that might make one’s way to pole dancing quicker.

Keep in mind that you will still need to work on learning each single movement and keep in mind that this skill is usually not the answer.

Practice the same move several times.

  1. As you learn the moves, remember to practice them a few times for the best result. It should take a few weeks at most. (Do your first few moves the same or it can be fun)

  2. Do not get frustrated.

  3. Don’t ever try to learn different positions of the hips.

  4. Learn to perform the movement correctly.

  5. If you find yourself doing what you think you will do on a daily basis, look into the future. You should be able to move your hips and keep them as you are.

Practice the movement as you have worked the previous exercises for a number of weeks now while you watch the videos to keep yourself busy.
