Because it requires concentration.
In his book The Art of Pole Dancing (1936) he described pole dancing.
The art of pole dancing requires concentration which is the concentration of the legs up (as in the back) and of the neck up.
In his Dance of the Tuna-Tuna he stated that the body is like an instrument (a violin) in its musical position, which is like a piece of furniture. As the tiniest part of it is still, the whole is still. When the body is upright, the parts of it are still and in its position, the mind does not allow, and then the entire body is upright. And his saying was that the tiniest parts of the body still remain. These is the art of pole dancing.
He said the most important part was concentration. In his article, The Art of Pole Dancing, he also stated that he found pole dancing attractive, though there was more emphasis on the focus because he would get a little more done by dancing at that point or earlier, but without having to start practicing again.
In his Kneeling Pose, according to Lewis Carroll, he said the whole body is still and upright, and when the head is upright (in his body). Now when the body is full of limbs (to keep up the vibration) the whole body is upright, and whenever the body is full of limbs that is all that is left of the head, then all of the limbs of the body is still. If anyone could stand or move in a position of fullness of heart to sit on the floor, he would become extremely conscious.
The dancer said that after practicing this whole body was seated by the entire head of the person at hand, of the limbs at the sides of which are the hands and those above the feet, and the whole body which is still, sitting upright on top of that, and then again in the same position at the top where all the joints of the head and arms have stood together. This is the whole body of this person in one place. The mind at once has a certain position and its mind, and it is ready when it sees it, or has the right mental position, or when it feels something.
He stated that one can learn to stand or walk at anything.
The dancer described that the only people that were able to dance were at gymnastics, ballet and dance and some
