Tensions remain high over President Trump’s firing of National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, after the White House said it could no longer tolerate that sort of activity.

Multiple sources in the administration have said that McMaster had told White House officials last month that there were very serious reasons for McMaster’s departure, and was expected to take a leave of absence from the agency the Trump transition team.

This leaves Trump’s team on a far more complicated and potentially perilous issue How to deal with foreign policy challenges, and how to get the Department of Justice and the CIA to change course and act accordingly.

The fallout from the firing shows the tensions between the two sides have worsened, with the administration insisting it has made extraordinary progress in handling tensions under President Donald Trump as well as in dealing with the issues of race, religious beliefs and other issues.

While there were no assurances from the White House that McMaster would take over if the issue were totally out of our control, Trump’s aides on Thursday urged reporters to come to reporters’ desks and ask about the firing’s fate.

I would think it was completely out of our control when the day came when this happened, and I wish it had been, said Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, in Washington on Friday, referring to a report in Sunday’s New York Times that called for the removal of McMaster as deputy foreign policy adviser.

As such, sources said, they had the impression that McMaster would become ambassador to Russia’s border at an unspecified time while he was away from senior Trump staff.

A source said that the administration is already working on a plan to move along a transition plan for its president to use executive orders to ease his problems.

President Trump’s personal feud with Stephen Bannon, the senior adviser known for the combative style of the president – a close associate of Bannon and one of the architects of the Breitbart News operation – is seen in Washington as part of a strategy to remove the president from office.
