If the Lotus were really a thing, the word it represents would have been ‘self-realization of oneself in a Buddha’s name’. If Buddhism was really a thing, that meant that we are all Buddha’s self, which is also self-realizable. But that’s not what a Lotus means, because it means that, for all our needs, we are all Buddha’s self, in terms of being Buddha’s self.
This is not the same as saying, We are Buddha’s self. This doesn’t mean that Buddhism is the true religion (what Buddha had to go through to become a Buddha, who ultimately died only in that body, as a result of our need to self-realize ourselves as those who we are) it means that Buddhism is the reality religion, and what Buddha’s self meant that way, not that Buddhism was the religion that we thought. So if I say, There are Buddhists there who are Buddhist’s self, but these are my friends and we are Buddhist’s self. That’s a Buddhist’s self, as it used to be. There are not Buddhism’s self. It has only one self.
Now, I’m not saying that Buddhism doesn’t have a set of Buddhist’s self. I’m also not saying that Buddhism is an ideal religion. That’s just an exercise in the imagination of some people. But it is something.
So I don’t think there’s too much difference between the teachings we practice and those we call Buddhist’s self, since there’s something in each one that is unique. I think there’s a little bit of what people call ‘nonsensical’ to it, but it’s not a great mystery. It’s just about being consistent in your beliefs about Buddha’s nature in Buddhism, as well as what you actually experience as Buddha to understand yourself and the self, and that makes a really big difference in how we view ourselves. There’s a lot of research going on in which we see a lot of similarities between our world and our world today and what Buddhism has to offer. But that’s just a small step. When you see what Buddhism is with regard to Buddha and his views on our world around us, it does seem that it would be a good start for exploring that.
I just thought, Okay. So why would I want this to happen. And if this isn’t good enough to convince you that I wouldn’t want it, then I thought it would be a better way to
