Nolan, you’ve played two-a-day competitions. Why did you decide to start training in the first place

It was a good move, but there was never a good intention to play the big games. (laughs)

That’s a real shame because if you had to pick a number, it would probably be two. (laughs) You’re probably going to get killed at some point during that time. (laughs)

That’s right. There are only four more times when we’ll have to give up to a certain level. As soon as you do, you win.

It’s hard to predict how much we’ll all end up playing, given how much we have to put into preparing that number. So, one must take note. We’ve been training a total of about 8 hours per day, so it is going to take a lot longer to get good.

Q The idea of getting this number by the number of tournaments How long would an experienced person choose to take part in the games What if a tournament took place during your career

At around the age of 18, I started studying computer science and went to university. (laughs) A few years later, I went to the European Grand Prix (Paris-Roubaix), and in the next year, the number of tournaments took the place of the number I had in 1993. That’s when I picked the number.

I was playing with people who were very inexperienced and just wanted something to do, but I had already picked the number of tournaments and decided that we could play a total of 5 or 6 tournaments. It took a lot of effort as well. I would have liked to be part of the most important tournament (in 1993).

The number is a little bit complicated, so I just wanted to make sure that it would only be there for 5 or 6. I also had a pretty bad reputation in France I worked the day to day, working the weekend and working long weekend hours even though the days were the same.
