Harrison Ford’s new directorial debut for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VIII is currently in preproduction, but it’ll be an entirely different story. A new trailer has surfaced that hints at a number of upcoming episodes of the followup.

According to Collider, there will be three new Episode VIII movies coming this fall on the new Star Wars slate.

If it was to be true, this would also mean the film would return to production when Star Wars The Force Awakens debuts next month. In an interview the actress, who starred as Rey in the opening shot, revealed that she is planning on making no less than six movies for Star Wars Epix Starring Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Luke Skywalker

In the Star Wars The Force Awakens review, writer Rian Johnson described what it’ll mean to star Rey in Episode VIII.

A new trilogy. There are going to be new movies. I am all for retelling the tale of the Rebellion, and if I’m part of that. But in the end, the story is the one I wanted, said Johnson.

This is all quite refreshing. As noted during Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII reboot, the film is currently in preproduction.
