Khalil Khalfallah has been selected to play for Slovakia in the 2014 World Cup

Last night’s game in Sochi was a great start to Khalil Khalfallah’s career. He found the net once, scored the winner in a 2-1 victory, and earned his first caps for Slovakia in the 2014 Olympics as he made his international debut.

I’m glad I got to play in the Olympics and I’m definitely looking forward to playing as well, he said. I’m sure this year people will want to think how I play better. But this is another game for me and to get it out there, try and go to Sochi, you have to do it really well and make sure it’s in style, and if it’s a good experience, I feel like I can improve the experience for myself too.

Khalfallah has been awarded the Slovak national team captaincy and played all three games from April 8-12 when Scotland won 1-0 in Helsinki for their 2-0 win against Sweden.

The 23-year-old from Slovakian-controlled town Dusko has enjoyed a number of successful years in his homeland and the former United States college star has played a significant part in his country’s Euro 2016 campaign.

He joined Slovakia from England’s Liberty Football Club in 2012, before his loan contract ended in the summer of 2015.

Khalfallah completed a spell on loan at Spartak Moscow on a five-year deal in July 2013 and has scored a total of 14 goals for the Russian side since.

Khalfallah was signed by Slovakia for 1 million in summer 2015 as part of the deal that signed David Villa for 20 million.

Khalfallah started three games against Finland before making his international debut the following June for the United States. He made 14 appearances for the U.S. Men’s national team, as well as one against Norway in the World Cup qualifying round.
